As an oil and gas rights owner, there is one great way to maximize your rights -- drill wells. The signing bonus is great. It is up front and you do not have to do any work for it. Depending on your acreage, the bonus could be large or just enough to pay some bills. Your royalty payment is very different. The larger and more contiguous a drilling unit is, the more wells the operator can drill. You will receive a royalty payment for each well that produces natural gas in your drilling unit. The Marcellus Shale is projected to produce for a minimum of 20-30 years.
